Team Development Model
Teams that Move Mountains have certain things in common. To begin with, they are super clear on their “Why.” Why does the team exist? What are its mission, vision, and values? That is at the core of our Team Development Model.
The next foundational layer is Trust. Team members need to be able to trust each other and the organizational system to be able to work together effectively. As Stephen M. R. Covey says, When trust goes up, speed and cost go down. When trust goes down, speed and cost go up.
Once the foundation of purpose and trust is built, then a team is able to have open communication. People can freely share their thoughts and opinions without fear of negative consequences.
When a team has established open communication, team members are able to engage in healthy conflict. We will always have conflict – we are human, after all, with different perspectives, backgrounds, and experiences. The key is creating an environment where everyone’s voice can be heard.
When team members feel heard, they are better able to commit to the organization’s goals, and to each other.
